A few common questions we often hear

  • Not at all. TDPB is used by freelancers, private individuals, digital nomads, second-home owners and small businesses alike. If you need a flexible and private postal solution, it's for you.

  • No.
The Digital PO Box does not provide legal company registration or “seat” addresses. Our addresses are intended for correspondence only and cannot be used as a registered office or official business domicile.

If you need a company registration address, you will need a solution that explicitly offers that service.

  • Outcomes vary by bank but commonly include: a written follow-up, account restrictions, frozen access pending KYC update, and in extreme cases account closure. The earliest interventions are usually reversible if you respond quickly. Later stages get harder to unwind.

  • All payments are processed at the moment of purchase. This means:
    • If you choose a monthly plan, your billing date will always be the same day you signed up (e.g. the 3rd of each month).
    • Yearly plans are charged once, on the day you subscribe.
    • Scan credits are charged immediately when you buy them.

  • Usually not for that step. Opening an account often requires proof of where you actually live, like a utility bill or council tax statement, and a correspondence address isn't proof of residence. For ongoing correspondence with a bank that already has you on file, it works well.

  • Yes. One Digital PO Box number covers addresses across multiple TDPB Partner locations from a single account and inbox, so you can hold an address in Spain and Germany, for example, without managing two separate accounts. See active locations.

  • If you’ve chosen the “scan & forward” option, we’ll store your post and send it to you at the agreed frequency. If you prefer to receive originals occasionally, we recommend choosing this option from the start.

With the “scan & destroy” option, items are safely shredded after a 2-week buffer and cannot be forwarded afterwards.

  • You decide. You can have it securely stored, forwarded to any address, or destroyed, all via your online dashboard.

  • Yes. A virtual mailbox provides a valid correspondence address. You can use it for receiving mail from banks, insurers, government agencies and other institutions. It is not a substitute for a registered residential address (empadronamiento) in situations where one is legally required.

  • Without arrangements, mail keeps arriving at your old address. The current tenant may forward it, return it, or not. Most German banks and the Finanzamt rarely accept a foreign address for ongoing correspondence, particularly if you still have German tax or banking ties to wind down. A TDPB German address used as your post-Abmeldung correspondence address keeps the wind-down visible. Always verify the specific requirements of the institution you are dealing with.
